Yesterday I said goodbye to an old friend. Someone that was not only my constant companion, but who I communicated with, worked with and nursed through a couple of viruses – a friend that stored all my memories, all my photographs, was always by my side, helped me teach the masses, kept me company during some dark times and also often into the early hours of the night.
It was a shocking demise. Yes absolutely shocking…for ladies and gentlemen, the end was swift and crushing as I….yes I…. drove over it ,,,....in…....my…....car. My beloved laptop crunched beneath my wheels to become a mush of squashed bits and bytes.
A moment of silence is needed here.
“How on earth did you do that?”...you may well ask. Actually it was frighteningly easy.
1. buy a rather large birdbath as a 60th birthday present.
2. Unload the boot of the car to accomodate said item.
3. Place Laptop carefully against the side of the car so that no one damages it.
3. Generally faff around in 40 C degrees trying to get the damn birdbath in.
4. Close the boot.
5. Reverse out of parking space…..and over….yes OVER….the laptop.
And so R.I.P my friend. And to the peeps at RB ‘scuse me while I sort out the insurance claim…and I may be a bit slow at replies as I now have to join the general melee at the ancient household computer (it takes about 2 and a half weeks to load up a page)...(And yes, most of my stuff was backed up to an additional hard drive).

Sorry to hear of the demise of your laptop when taking a back up :)
I hope it’s sorted out quickly and that you haven’t lost too much data.
Cheers

I hate it when things like that happen.

I’m sorry to say it Sharon but that gave me the best laugh I’ve had in a long time. I’m really upset for you because although I haven’t got a lap top, my Mike has one and I would dread to think what he would do (especially running over it with his car) He would have taken it out on the bird-bath. LOL!!! :):):)

Yep Pat…most people thought it was pretty funny…and it was unbelieveably stupid of me. I think my pupils laughed the loudest…and the longest. It would have been so much worse if I hadn’t just backed up all my stuff. Still I have a new laptop to look forward to I suppose!!! :)
