Male Leopard - Okavango Delta, Botswana

Male Leopard - Okavango Delta, Botswana

This magnificent male leopard was perched on a termite mound, barely 50 mtrs from a pair of male lions on a baby elephant kill in the Okavango Delta. They all knew one another was there. When the tension became too much, one of lions dragged the rest of the kill into a thicket to escape the prying eyes of the leopard. The leopard got up to get a better view and wait his chance to grab a few scraps.

It’s okay i guess ;)... was expecting the bishop shot of the bum of the big cat scooting off into the tall grass!
Mind you, wasn’t somebody wanting a pic of a pussy cat sitting in a tree?

lol…believe me I have PLENTY of bum shots – literally and figuratively

excellent shot – there’s something so much more ‘alive’ about animals photographed in the wild and this shows it nicely!

  • Sharon Bishop replied

Thanks berndt2 – I couldn’t agree more about animals photographed in the wild.

A remarkable shot. Wow, and in the wild, focused on his next meal. Although I hate that it was a baby elephant; better the cats than man (hunting its Mom or Pop). Jeepers, this is sharp!
