Mad World by Birgitta †

Available to buy on…

Still cutting my teeth on this particular style. I’m completely winging it (no tutorials, etc.) and am eyeballing it through trial and error, but I’m liking how it’s turning out so far.

I was inspired by Stephanie Jung and her work, so I decided to give it a try and develope my own technique. I have no idea how she does hers, and for me, that’s part of the allure; not knowing. Her portfolio is amazing though, and I suppose that I’ll be working on this style for some time, as I’m now completely addicted to it! It’s not quite Impressionism, and I don’t know the proper name for this technique, so I’m just going to call it “cross hatching”.
(Please correct me if I’m wrong if anybody knows the correct name for it.)

Mel , I’m hoping to see more from you also in this area. You killed it. :)

This one is absolutely beautiful. I like the more recognisable shapes so as to appreciate the difference… if you get what I mean.

  • Totally. :)

I dig the way you`re pushing the boundaries with this. So cool to see something different in this been there/done that world.
And I do appreciate this one more than the previous as it`s got recognizable content even though it`s still farken MAD.
So if I understand, you do what you did with the last one, wait for the drugs to wear off about 50%, then print. Wow.
Now where did I stash that chillum…???

  • Hahaha…..that’s pretty much it. ;) Yes, the first one was extremely experimental (heavy on the “mental”) and I had no idea what I was doing. But the more I do it, the more I get a feel for it- it’s flipping addictive man! It really is. It’s 3:14 a.m. and I’m sitting here messing around with this stuff. I should be sleeping. :-/ Just wait ‘til I run the washing mashines through it. You know what? I’m not even gonna correct the way I spelled washing mashines. (Did you see that?!) See what college has done for me?

    Washing mashines . [shakes head]
