A lone pigeon awaits a crumb or two on a rainy New York park bench.
The man in the background jumped out of the frame when he saw me crawling up to the bird on my knees. (I wonder why..heheh..)

beautiful work – you scared off the man but not the bird – that’s a bit of a turnaround.

  • Haa…you raise a good point. :) it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve scared off a man…heheh..

The bird knows they’re gonna take over the world in the fullness of time, probably sooner than later. You can see it in his dominant stance, wide-eyed arrogance and total disregard for the human. Which is probably the real reason why the guy decided to piss off.
Totally Hitchcockian (as if I didn’t know what flick you watched last night :-), I love your dark room style processing and selective DOF which, intentional or not, puts emphasis on the gap between master and eventual slave.
In fact, looks like old Alfred’s done another cameo appearance far in the background, just above center…
Coohohohohohohohool work (did that sound like a pidgeon??)

  • You know, I’ve been hooked on those Alfred Hitchcock mini-episodes for days now. Between that and the Twilight Zone, they’re the reason for my (semi) obsession with shadows/dark tones I think. The DOF was intentional (good ole Sigma 17-70)- I always shoot in manual too, so you only have a few seconds to compose everything on-the-fly (and get your exposure right and all of that other stuff). When you’re already scrambling on your knees in the rain, well…it be quite the challenge to shoot in manual, but I like the control. :)

wide-eyed arrogance <<<< Ha. I busted out loud on that one. (You nut..)

I love this shot, so good to see it again :)

  • Thanks, Mel. :) I’m a habitual offender in the reposting department I’m afraid. (Guilty as charged!)
