"I Remember You.."
..and it seems like yesterday that you were here.
Laughter filled the house, and love spilled from your eyes,
and I was happy. I see this place, it’s not the same. The
aching in my heart threatens to pull me under, and sorrow spills
from my eyes..and I am torn. I remember you. And I will always
remember you..
Dedicated to anyone who has lost someone near Christmas time.
Tomorrow, I will be going to the cememtary, and placing
fresh flowers on my Father’s grave, as I do every Christmas.
As Lumineaux said, not everybody is “happy” this time of year.
But Life does go on! And our loved ones would want us to be
happy too. :) Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Yes – isn’t it amazing how much we remember, and how it seems like only yesterday when those we have lost were still here?

A very moving tribute Birg, your words brought tears even though I am one of the fortunate ones. There are so many others that are not. You are right though, it is good to remember, but also to be thankful.
Wishing you and yours a warm and wonderful Christmas babe. Hope the New Years brings all that you could hope for and then some!

A Marvelous Tribute, both visually and verbally, to those that we have loved and lost !!! A great reminder to pause and reflect on the memories of wonderful moments etched in time ! My thoughts are with you Birgitta and pray that you will draw strength from The Comforter, who never leaves nor forsakes us. My best wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a Prosperous(in all ways) 2008 !! Phil T.

Thanks everyone. :) Just want you all to know that I’m not sad, depressed,

for it. But I am joyful. :) Thanks again for stopping by!

Beautiful picture and moving words that brought tears to my eyes, as this is the 3rd Christmas without my father… Like you, I’m not sad or anything but sometimes (like when reading your words!) it just “gets” to me and I can’t help shedding a tear or two…

Thank you so much. I lost my sister around Thanksgiving of 1998. It was a hard time that carried into the Christmas season. Thankfully she had re-dedicated her life to Christ. I will see her again someday. In the meantime. Thanks for such a touching photo and words.

This tugs at my soul…It wasn’t Christmas that I lost my dad to a young man acting out on his own pain, making his problems everyone else’s…as he took 2 lives that meant nothing to him in front of a classroom full of young college students. It was Good Friday for me, Easter has never been the same. Christmas is especially difficult because dad loved Christmas more than anyone I know. I haven’t seen the same sparkle in my mom’s eye for 27 years. I know what you mean by feeling you are being pulled under. Many times it takes something to wake me up and remind me that I am still alive, I didn’t die with him…I am frozen in 1982 in the happy world of a 14 year old girl, waiting for daddy to come home.
Thank you so much for sharing this. This is a beautiful image even though it can be very ugly at the same time. Just like the memory that inspired this image, remembering can bring happiness, but usually with equal amounts of pain and sorrow.
Loss opens a walkway to what really matters in life. It presses us to see and feel in ways we hadn’t previously considered. And while loss doesn’t seem like a friend, it often brings refining touches to our character. It can sharpen compassion toward others, it can move us beyond fear, it can hekp us to determine a clear-cut path, and it can deepen our dependence on God.
You’ve inspired me to work on creating an image, or images, that express my feelings about my dad…This is truly beautiful, Birgitta! My new favorite, I think. It so hard to choose…
