Child's Play

A Note Written in a Child’s Hand

Meet me down by the river of apple-seeds
The air will be thick as milk
The clouds will cover us in fog
So we can move like blurred
Figures in a painting
We will walk side by side
You in your coat of thick wool
Our boots crunching on the gravel
The sounds of traffic buzzing in the background
We will walk side by side
Our arms brushing against each other

We Fight and Fall like children
We have Seen too Much
To ever go Back and Reclaim a childhood
Where Mommy was woken in the Bath-tub
With Your Hands over her Chest
Crying out Wake up Wake up
And you ask me to write
The Raw, The Cruel, The Real
Yes you ask me to write
The Moment When my Head Hit the Windscreen

-I will turn, we still stop
There will be a pause

In the pause, you will remind me
That the river was your dream
Recited to me that morning long ago
When my ear pressed against your chest
Listening for the drumming of your heart-beat
I will meet you by the river of apple-seeds
We will walk side by side
As though it is nothing, as though we walk together
Like this
And it is not a dream

I will knot your scarf
At your throat, my fingers kissing your Adam’s apple
Between the bridge and the light of day
With the back of my hand against your cheek bone
My fingers will cover your eyes
Thick and dark, mask
Those eyes that stare into mine
Searching
Seeking out a place to belong-

A Place without Memories of Falling Fists
Where We Stop Blaming Each Other
For All That Has been Done to Us
To Make Us Have the Eyes of

Of all this sadness that weaves its beautiful music
Between the breath that exhales from your lungs
I wish to catch it as it leaves you
As it flutters like a million strangled butterflies
On the edge of a scream

“To bread I do not ask to teach me
but only not to lack during every day of life.
I don’t know anything about light, from where
it comes nor where it goes,
I only want the light to light up,
I do not ask to the night
explanations,
I wait for it and it envelops me,
And so you, bread and light
And shadow are”

    Stunning style….

Oh Red, there are so many heart power lines in this piece. I had to hold back the tears…
I could feel the hurt and pain in the exchange…the desire for freedom…the entire of swallowing another’s breath made me hold my breath.

    I imagine this was a cathartic piece…

  • yes very thank you for commening =D

As it flutters like a million strangled butterflies
On the edge of a scream

I got a bit teary eyed myself. This was very moving, somber, nostalgic, and honest.
