In certain Athenian artworks Gaia is appears as a woman reclining upon the Earth, surrounded by infant gods of the fruits of the Earth known as the Carpi. Even though the Greek mythology says Gaia gave birth, I painted her as a young girl since she is still fertile to have a child with her own child.
