These are my two dachshund rescues Walter (short hair) and Bica (wire hair). We adopted Walter out of a kill shelter at age 14 1/2. He was about to be put down because nobody wanted to bother with an old, sick and demented dog. He lived out his days much loved at hour house.
Bica is a puppymill survivor who found herself dumped at a killshelter when she could not produce puppies for the petstore anymore. She was physically and emotionally a wreck. Today, after more than seven years of rehabilitation she is now a happy and healthy dachshund girl and we couldn’t imagine our lives without her. :-)

This picture means a lot to me, simply because these two mistreated souls are sleeping in unison without a care in the world. They were finally safe !
This is to all people who care !

I’m Bine and my camera is an Olympus E-620 and a Lumix DMC-ZS19. As you can see, I am a total animal nut and I couldn’t imagine my life without being in nature and surrounding myself with animals.
I would call myself a pragmatic agnostic with the view, that there is no proof of either the existence or nonexistence of any deity. Since any deity that may exist appears unconcerned for the universe or the welfare of its inhabitants, the question is largely academic.

I know just what you mean. I wish I won the lottery to have a refuge for them all.
