This is Bicalina. Bicalina has been with us now for almost seven years. She is a puppymill survivor. Puppymills don’t care about dogs. Puppymills discard dogs that don’t produce anymore. Bicalina was discarded. She found herself at the killshelter near death. Her throat had been kicked in. Her tail was broken. Her claws grew into the pads of her paws. Her eyes were bad. Her teeth rotten. Her back hurt and her leg broken from being tossed around. She never knew what it meant not to be hungry. She was one malnourished and beaten up little creature. Her eyes were dead and her little soul had already given up on life. It was a long journey to nourish her back to the point where she was enjoying life again.
This picture was taken after about five years of rehab work with this little sweetie. She’s overall a very happy little dog now. Still somewhat shy and semi-feral in her behavior at times. Even though she had nothing but love for years, every now and then shear terror is in her expression when she’s being approached by a human. Even me, who really never even as raised my voice to her.
Please don’t buy puppies from pet stores. (www.prisonersofgreed.org)
This is to all the furry survivors and the people who give them the chance for a happier life !
