This is an Etching on acetate. Then it is printed on the printing press. So this etching is a print. So far this print is in the making…at the moment, this is the preliminary etch and hand coloured in watercolour and pen. I will be adding the completed work in about 2 weeks from now.

Looks great Billy, lots of work has gone into this

acetate etching was a favourite of mine, I quite often used the technique of hand colouring on the plate itself, making it unique

  • MMMMMmmmm, thanks John, I will try this. I have only printed up one to see where to scratch next. Finished that yesterday and can’t wait for school to begin again so I can print an edition. I will try one of painting on the plate also…thanks Billy

another techique worth trying is to get a plate the same size and create a mono print, then print your etching over the top.

look forward to seeing your results

  • Dear John I really really really want to try this and over the school holidays I was thinking of making a monoprint twice the size of the etching and finding grass similiar and making a monoprint plate, then placing another plate on the bed so that there is a space for the etching…to be placed at a later point…..Are you following me? I want to try this. Its something I havn’t done yet , but its in my head, what do you think? Is this what you mean? I want to try it….???

BillyLee this is magnificent work! Can’t wait to see where you are taking this…….and I can’t imagine how it could even be improved on!! But I’m sure you will produce an image even more magnificent in the end. I’ve never heard of using acetate for etching…..would love to know more.

  • I will tell you more when I get back from the football today…Billy
