Stolen Paintings on Crime Stoppers

My work has been stolen. (Mornington Peninsula) Over five oil paintings that I have on Red bubble. I lent them to a friend for a house showing. His house was robbed and all of my paintings taken. They are on CRIME STOPPERS. Please follow the link. Re-post the link or put on Facebook. I worked hard on my paintings, someone in Melbourne Australia has them. I know that these paintings exist. So if you can, help me to find them. Much appreciated.

NGV Bookshop Ouch!

Today I went into the city to the National Gallery of Victoria. I went and saw Australian Printmaker Brent Harris, went straight past the Napoleon Exhibition and saw an amazing printmaker.

I also went to Federation Square to see Australian Painter Fred Williams exhibition. Then the fun part, I went to the book shop and found a book I have been seeking forever! I found it, and was so excited. The book “George Baldessin Paradox and Persuasion by Harriet Edquist”. I paid for it and left a happy woman as I had had a wonderful day.

When I got home 2 hours later I decided to make a cup of tea and read my book. Imagine how sad I was when the book started to make these sqeaky noises when I turned the pages. All 279 of these beautifully illustrated pages started to fall out of the bind…

Crackle Medium

I have been wanting to try “crackle Medium” for a long time so I bought myself some Derivan Crackle Medium.

I tried it on paper, as I was hand painting a collagraph print. I was using Gold Matisse paint over…..gold matisse paint.

The results I have got are “O”……I have tried three times now. I would like some advice on Crackle Medium. Please post examples if you have any…show us what you have done…..

Hopefully I will get a result soon!

HELP WITH PROFILE PAGE since recent changes.

HI, could someone please help me with something. With the recent changes made to redbubble I am having trouble understanding how we go about moving our images around. I used to be able to go to “art”, then I would click a down arrow or and up arrow and move around my images to create a profile page. I would like to change my page on a montly basis. However, now my profile page has “Recently” on the page and about six of my images. What is I don’t want “recently”, what if I want to pick other images. Am I stuck with the most recent works as my profile page.

I used to enjoy this freedom of moving my images into different orders and now cannot do this anymore. If someone could share their expereinces that would be good.

Thanks Billy

"WHY DO WE PAINT THE THINGS WE PAINT?"

I have a love for the guitar and its music since I was a child. I played the guitar for hours and hours every day. By the age of 15 I wrote songs and read music. In 1989 I suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and needed (life or death) brain surgery. I came out of that with a complete loss of memory for playing the guitar and reading the music. However, I still love the guitar and lately have been painting them in my art.
In my paintings I can portray a real sense for the love of this instrument. I can smell the wood, feel the sculptural structure and I get a sense of memory and how I felt when I used to play. To know something so close is to be able to paint it with real feeling.
I hope this explains my series of guitar paintings. For the musically inclined, I think you understand. Music use…

Demonstration in Progress of Painting..by BillyLee

STAGE 1 – 31/10/10
Stage 1 shows the first sketch up of acrylic paint on canvas. I have no direction with this painting , nor do I have a clue where it is going. Today I put some shapes int he back ground and lined up the body. Thinking of blues and grays…..The Original works are by Photomusic

STAGE 1 – ON EASEL IN STUDIO

STAGE 2
I have now added Blue black, prussian blue and warm gray together. With this I painted the shadows and the outside edges. The canvas does not have enough gesso on it and the canvas is sucking up the paint. Still work to do on the guitar, hat, skin tone. Trying to keep it simple.

STAGE 3
So I am now preparing to do more work on the guitar after fining up the edges on the neck. Now the hard part, frets and strings. Errrr…..Nearly finished. Wh…

Printmakers - Your definition of Digital Print/Printmaking? PLEASE

Last night I was a finalist in the 2010 Emerging Artists Award in Melbourne Australia and it was loads of fun. There were other printmakers in the show and one very talented printmaker from Queensland took the prize!

However, as a printmaker I was not sure how she came to her final piece. She had the following under her work : Lithograph and Digital Print.

My question is for other printmakers out there, I know what a lithograph is but what is a lithograph and Digital Print. It did not look at all Digital to me and if I can find a picture of the winning work by Sarah Harvey I will post it with her permission. But I want to know. How do you do traditional printmaking and add “digital print” to the title and what are the rules for printmaking. Maybe there are none anymore?

WALKER STREET - EMERGING ARTISTS 2010 FINALIST!

I just got THE phone call…and I have made it into the Walker Street Dandenong Emerging Artists 2010 exhibition. I spent so long getting the application off to them. I can’t believe it, its huge and one of my best friends Helen DiTammso also got in. Which is great because we will be in the show together.

I am so excited and will keep you all posted on what I am putting in and when the show is as I hope lots of my redbubble friends who live in the Dandenong Area can come on the night and give support. It will be the last week of August and we will be so excited if you could come.

Yea, a finalist….keep trying..keeping putting it out there and you will get there!
That is what I tell my kids and that is what I tell myself every day as an artists.
