Girl in the Grass 5
This is an Etching on acetate. Then it is printed on the printing press. So this etching is a print. So far this print is in the making…at the moment, this is the preliminary etch and hand coloured in watercolour and pen. I will be adding the completed work in about 2 weeks from now.
This etching is in collaboration with the artist Barssel and his photograph
Artist photograph He has kindly given me permission to use his images for my printmaking process.
I am MORE then pleased at how this one is coming out. I am majoring in printmaking this year at Chisholm Frankston. Its my goal to be a printmaker artist. To say I love it is an understatement. I hope you like “Girl in the Grass 5” BillyLee

Barssel’s photograph that inspired my print.

Looks great Billy, lots of work has gone into this
acetate etching was a favourite of mine, I quite often used the technique of hand colouring on the plate itself, making it unique
BillyLee in reply to John Conway’s comment, 6 months ago
MMMMMmmmm, thanks John, I will try this. I have only printed up one to see where to scratch next. Finished that yesterday and can’t wait for school to begin again so I can print an edition. I will try one of painting on the plate also…thanks Billy

another techique worth trying is to get a plate the same size and create a mono print, then print your etching over the top.
look forward to seeing your results
BillyLee in reply to John Conway’s comment, 6 months ago
Dear John I really really really want to try this and over the school holidays I was thinking of making a monoprint twice the size of the etching and finding grass similiar and making a monoprint plate, then placing another plate on the bed so that there is a space for the etching…to be placed at a later point…..Are you following me? I want to try this. Its something I havn’t done yet , but its in my head, what do you think? Is this what you mean? I want to try it….???

Billy you have such a passion for doing this sort of work and it shows. I haven’t got a clue how it works or the skills involved, but I know the result is stunning and you have an unerring instinct for making it work artistically. It’s exciting just to watch you. xx

Hi Carmen, where have you been. YOu are so missed when you arn’t around. My best bubble buddy gone, its boring without you! Hey, this is all scratched out with acetate and took forever and ever. I am doing a woodcut at the moment. I have to do 10 the first semester and this is number 5, so I am behind. I am glad you like it. I like it also. Its hard coming up with new ideas, I feel a bit stumped at the moment…Glad your back. B
BillyLee in reply to Damian’s comment, 6 months ago
Thanks Damian, the finished print is scratched out more, you can see to the left of the print its more darker, the whole image will be like this..can’t show you until I go back to school though and print it. Thanks for your comments and for putting me on your watch list. Billy

Very nice!
How do you do that .. the showing of the original, I mean?
I love the colors and the way you have with line work, as per always!
BillyLee in reply to Arletta’s comment, 6 months ago
Arletta, what do you mean, how do I do that? The showing of the original…I will try and answer, its an etching on a acetone plate (a piece of plastic) with lines scratched out….this is the first print, then I see I need more lines scratched out to finish. This is one that I hand painted in as the lines were not there yet. Its hard to explain but you will see when I post the next editon. When you do etching you have to make many etchings before you get the final proof. I know, I know, digital art, cost less time and money! But printmaking is a hand on old traditional art. I love it, it takes time but is very rewarding. Plus I like to get dirty!
