Girl in the Forest
This is a mock up for a woodcut I am doing. In fact, this is the woodcut before I begin to cut it and prepare for printmaking. The woodblock looked boring so I knew for arts sake I would have to do some digital experimenting to see where I could take this woodcut. So it would be something different, hours and hours of cutting can be tedious enough, but getting a mediocre result is devastating. So, I this girl is one of my muses from when I was a photographer in London. I took a photograph of her I had and layered it with the woodcut.
After merging the two pictures I then made the girl 40% Transparent, then I went to filters and did her on poster edge filter. After which I coloured the whole plate green (transparant of about 36%. Then I brushed the eyes with blue at 36% transparancy.
After that I changed the size, oh I forgot to mention I changed the size of the initial photograph to fit the scale of the piece of wood. I need this image so that I can copy the girl onto the wood in hand with pencil. But before doing that I find photoshop and invaluable took because as an artist it allows me to look at where to place the eyes before laying a knife to the piece of wood.
Digital photography and photoshop have made printmaking an even more enjoyable experience for me. BillyLee

Billy Lee, you have such talent! I also see you were a photographer in London? Any chance you may still have some contacts over there? As I will be looking for work there in about a month or so.
Belinda "Billy... replied
What kind of work Krisso? I only know some girlfriends but they have all now moved out of London. The company I worked for even moved to Birmingham. Are you going on a working holiday? B
Krisso
It will be a working holiday. At the moment anything to start me off I’ve a couple of options so far but I’m looking to keep as many doors open as I can, without burning any houses down. It’d be nice to get some photography work, but I’m thinking more in the commercial side. I’m sure it wont be hard to find work once I’m there.
