I did this painting with lots of glazing and was amazed at the intensity of the colours. I have not manipulated this in the computer at all. In fact its even more brighter in real life. I saw the John Brack exhibition this week and he has inspired me to paint the people around me. I also have a facination with Edvard Munch and I think it shows through with this painting. The model is my 10 year old Jade.

I use BEHR – Wet-look …......I find it brings out the colors so well…......and its is waterproof

Wow never heard of it, is it mixed with the oils or do you paint over the oils when its done. Can you tell me how it works. Love to get some help with materials. Can you buy it in Australia? Billy

I used to use an acrylic varnish but this seems to bring out the colors more….I purchased it at Home Depot.Not sure If you have it in Oz…...
you could probably order it online#
I even re-did a floor in the house…...painted the concrete and coated it with this…...looks wonderful…

Thanks so much. She knows exactly how to pose this little girl. I took many photographs of her and this one was the most twisted. The others were all just a girl with some cakes. I loved painting this one as I was experimenting with Indian yellow and cora transparency oil paints.

Thanks cd , sometimes the hardest part is finding something to paint, which is why we guess we paint family so much. I try and put her into a story and then its not just a portrait. Have you done that before?

fabulous work, a really interesting composition with the plate of cakes, great colour work, painting those around you is a wonderful opportunity, im struggling with a portrait of my partner and his daughter at the momment, but the end is in site!
