Woodblock - Geranium Gal
This is a large woodcut block that I have just completed. I will be pulling a print from this before I ink it up. I got a book for Christmas with the artist “Cressinda Campbell” and she paints her blocks first and pulls a print with colours before inking up with printing ink. She also sells her blocks and prints together.
So I thought I would give this a go. For now this is the block and I will post the print when I get to it. I really enjoyed cutting this block. It took me 2 months to do and my hand is really hurting as a result. So its time out for me with the cutting of wood.
THE MODELS NAME IS “CONNIE PAGE”
Let me know what you think. BillyLee
This is also a collaboration with Andrew James McNulty who took the photograph of this lady and I have posed in with the geraniums…I will post the link to this picture soon. Complimentary Red! by Andrew James McNulty

wow Billy, you excelled in this one, loads of work in it. I think I told you once that I have done lino printing but cutting into wood is a little tougher without doubt. You have so much detail.

The details are so fantastic Billy, I can only imagine how hard this would be to do, amazing work!

Yes, I got the big book for Christmas AND then I read about her in The Studio book thats out and discovered she uses a “engraving tool” and so now I’m thinking, wow, maybe this is the answer to saving my hands?? Where would I get a good engraving tool?

No idea but when you find out I would love to know, it is so hard on the hands that is why I do so much ink and vector work instead.
