Monotype 2
This is no longer a pen and ink drawing, it has now been made into a Monotype Print. I am looking at ways I can move into more copper plate etchings and paintings. So I am going to try my hand at scribbling ideas down and seeing how they go on the bubble. Later when the work is completed I will download the finished work and put this original mock up drawing to the side of the picture. So you can see my progression. I hope to try and manipulate this visual with different mediums until I get what I want. This was last updated on 14.6.08.

I think this can stand on it’s own,,,I really like the graphic quality of it, and your use of complimentary colours with black…love the idea of the stacks of wood….the light glowing through the yellow gives it the feeling of a sunny day….

Yea, my Monotype is on the feature page, I hope people make some comments because I’m just not sure about it as yet. Spent all day in the print room today doing another etching. I think I must have put it in the ferric acid 10 times so far. I love the process, I am impatient for a result and its tiresome but than I love the process…....can’t wait to post it after Thursday’s class! Thanks for featuring me. Billy

Hi Genevieve, I probably should have said that I handpainted with ink over this monoprint. I used a zinc plate, painted it on, then wiped it back, printed it and than hand coloured it. I have a have a better photograph of this I did today which I am going to download. Thanks for all your comments by the way, I had a dry patch and wandered what was going on…so thanks and good to hear from you.

sorry to drag this out but did you have an etching of this on the plate first before the painting or a blank zinc plate ( Ive only done solar plate etching).

Wow, really Carmen, I think this monoprint business is the buzz, I really like doing them, Its my first attempt but maybe it is where I can go…..just have to think about it more. Thanks for your support and enthusiam…...I am so excited!!! Love it that you love it..thanks Carmen!

I think I prefer the sky, but still like the aspects of land and trees in the other onebetter. but it’s really hard without the originals and to be honest i love this version.
