Arletta from the Pay It Forward Group: ““First of all, I love the colors; second of all, I love what the turbulence in the hair represents – the emotional content of the piece. And, I don’t know, it’s beautiful. I’m not an art critic! But, to me, this piece is so full of frenetic energy and the want hiding behind it.”

This is a colloboration with Amy, I will post her picture she did of herself here…..

Amy

This is my muse “Amy”, today I did this drawing of her…I completed it in one day..it is Charcoal and Pastel….I will download the picture of me in the studio today, even though I look horrible…so you can see me at work. This is my 7th drawing for the year. First semester you have to complete 6 pieces so I have done well completeting NO. 7.

!
This is now been done in a drypoint etching print..here it is ….

It was fun doing it, but lets face it, Amy is gorgeous already, so it wasn’t too hard to draw her..she has great eyes!

    instant fave !!

  • Belinda "Billy... replied

Really, its so weird, because it was done in an afternoon session, maybe working looser and faster and easier is the way to go…instead of planning and drafting etc…..

  • Liz Calmiano

    Liz Calmiano

Absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could draw like that.

  • Belinda "Billy... replied

Liz you can draw like that…..three years of art school let me draw like that, I would never show you what I did in year 1 …..oh my gosh it was BAD! I could know you can do it, its a matter of training and learning…..I reckon if I can do it anyone can. B

Wow – this is amazing work! I think your best yet (and today is the 29th of May 2008 I think – just for your record hehe). I’ve been thinking alot about getting back into some drawing and pastel work and you have truely inspired me! Thanks for sharing the photos of you in your studio as well, I love seeing artists at work. : ) Hope you’ve been very well lately, X Carmen

  • Belinda "Billy... replied

Dear Carmen, love the new eye portrait of you…fabulous and mysterious also. Funny, this has been popular at school as well and I sold this one this week also!! So being able to loosen up is something I need to keep trying, its hard though, as I get caught up in the detail….i keep trying to “loosen” up baby…and its doesn’t work. did here though. Yes, go and do some pastel because my new group is called “Fine ARt” and we need some of your work. Join the group and I will feature you asap. Billy

Billy – it’s very loose, and simply beautiful! I love seeing you in your studio too. Is it part of your home or are you at tafe? looks like a great set up where ever it is. You really inspired me. After seeing these pics yesterday I moved my stupid french easel out of the dining room and put a big table in there instead with all my water colours, pastels, inks and collage making stuff. I haven’t been true to myself lately. been so pressured with an upcoming solo exhibition and then decided in the middle of the night on Thursday that aI simply wouldn’t do it because I want to grow and explore more … so here goes! I can’t believe how far your art has come in the last 12 months – seriously fantastic! Anyway, I’m working on a mixed media collage at the moment and maybe I’ll post it tonight if it’s finished & dry… it’s out in the sun at the moment looking VERY soggy. Ok, thanks for reading my “ramble”.

    X you mate Carmen

  • Carmen Cilliers

    Carmen Cilliers

oops – that was meant to say X your mate Carmen LOL

  • Carmen Cilliers

    Carmen Cilliers

Ps – if I’ve only been painting for 18 months and sort of do the odd course but am not specifically an art student (all though I am a art therapy student – but that’s different) do you think I can join the beginners and students group? I joined and then I straight away unjoined because I wasn’t sure.

  • Belinda "Billy... replied

I say yes, you should be in those groups, I am, because I am still evolving and still a student and you should also. Now, excited, glad I have inspired you because not seeing your upload work like you used to has been weird. You have been missed. Plus, I think you are right, I am evolving, I’m getting there, I am focused and I want to succeed. I am passionate and I now know I am capable. I have artist/rprintmaker cards made up and last night I went to the opening of the big REgional Works on Paper party and handed them out. I feel confident about my art now…I am at stage 2, which for me is to explore and move forward in confidence. The doubting artist is gone and now its just the “artist evolving” . My inspiration is Del Kathryn Barton and all that she has achieved. It can be done, and if you don’t make it, well then thats ok too because getting there is fabulous fun. Thanks for your encouragement. I love to get it from you..of all people my very very very first redbubble friend!

  • Carmen Cilliers

    Carmen Cilliers

LOL! thanks girlfriend!!! I think you were my first RB friend too! The reason I stopped uploading work is because I was seeing a few things that were a bit too close to my own stuff. Also, it is time consuming and really people just say, beautiful, great… blah blah and sometimes that used to bore me, especially if I uploaded something I thought was a bit substandard. . . but then again it is subjective. have you checked out my profile lately… I have a lot of work on “personal view” but there are some abstracts you might like.

  • Belinda "Billy... replied

I always know what you are up to as you are on my watch list, love the new profile by the way, but liked the old one better. When are you going to put your work in the Fine Arts group? I moderate that now and would love to have you feature in our group. B
