Delta Dawn - Copper Plate Etching
This is a “Copper Plate” Etching… ( 300mm x 300mm )This is now the second edition and now is complete. The plate was aquatinted and this is the final result, no photoshop or enhancing made.
The process of etching into copper and aquatinting is a long process. In the first edition the lines are engraved and the plate printed. In the second edition the plate is aqautinted in the acid four or five times depending how many tones you want. This came out better then expected.
This composition is in collaboration with Barssel whom takes these wonderful nude photographs and lets me use them in my art…his link is Barssel
Thank you so much for your help with my art this year. I will be sending you this print when it is complete….well thats if you want one. Also I am happy to send you any print if your nude is in the art work. Send me your address and I will mail you an original print.
At the moment I am also drawing this image on an A1 paper for drawing class..it will look very different to this one.
Thanks so much….BillyLee

Thanks Barssel, I am so excited I finished this print with aquatinting today and its the BEST I think I have ever done. This is the line version handcoloured. I am going to upload the finished version tomorrow or maybe sooner, I have only printed 3 so far, but I want you to have one for sure. You will have to send me your address. Can’t wait to show you the finished and the best print I have ever done. Thanks for helping me so much. You are the best bubble friend in the World!

hmmm … I went from “ooh beautiful ” to “eeeuugghh” in about 1/2 a second flat . This appears to be a really beautiful composition featuring a rather nice looking dead lady. Me no like dead ladies! I am dead lady intolerant, so much so that I don’t want any in my family and I intend never to be one! But, outside of that, this is gorgeous!
BillyLee in reply to Arletta’s comment, 4 months ago
Its funny you should say that because I reckon she looks dead also.in fact she isn’t meant to be dead , however, I am also doing a drawing of her at school in A1 size and apparantly she looks dead in that also. Sorry, I think she died all by herself. She is indeed not looking well, so , you are too funny….gosh, will anybody else twig…maybe I should come up with a new name for her….HOw about “Left alone”......any suggestions!
Arletta, 4 months ago
lol Nah! Leave the name; it’s a good warning not to go out alone, or to any parties, on the Delta! I like it, anyway, maybe even more so because you don’t know if she’s dead or not. Sometimes, it isn’t what the artist intended that is really amazing, in the end, but what they didn’t even realize they created.
BillyLee in reply to Arletta’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks ARletta, you are right though she does look dead….freaks me out and as you said I didn’t mean for her to appear so…today I upload the final aquatint of this in its final stage. Don’t be freaked out but I think she might look even more dead. The whole dead thing freaks me out also. B

I’m kind of sorry I brought it up lol Anyway, it’s nicer to know it wasn’t planned. We can’t always help what some of the persons, or etc., in our work go off and do. If we could, how boring would that be?
Paul Compton, 3 months ago
This is simply gorgeous. A wonderous etching. Well done BillyLee.
BillyLee in reply to Paul Compton’s comment, 3 months ago
Thanks Paul, I finished my second one to this set today, it took three days of aquatinting and I can’t wait to download it…..thanks for your comments. These copper plates are really exciting me and I hope to do many more this year. P.S. I will come to dinner if Egon Schiele or Ludwig Kirschner were invited? Billy
