Big Fishing
The guy on the right actually had something on his line that was still in the water. I shot the Dolphin at an aquatic show in the Algarve a year later. With Photoshop, I positioned it to follow the gaze of the other guy. It was impossible to import all the tiny splashes and droplets with the dolphin photo, and I spent many hours to clone these in from a series of selected ones. Lightning in background was drawn with Photoshop tools.

Wow! What a great job you’ve done here! This should do well on Fathers day, which is in a couple of weeks. I’d recommend you add some tags like father, fishing, funny, humour and other relevant words….Tags work quite well here!
Belinda Leopold
Fantastic!!! You sure know how to work that mouse…...:)
billyboy
Thank you Mel and Belinda. Lots of work went into this and as it was my first manip picture, it took me lots of time too. In fact, I never got on with a mouse and so now use a drawing tablet—this makes it much more natural to trace and draw. It’s indispensible to me now.
Mel, I will try the key words… hadn’t thought of that before, but if it helps getting my stuff noticed, I’ll give it a whirl!
Cheers, Bill

Thats Kewl Although Dolphins In The Wild Are SO Much Better just playing great creation..
C J Hummel - ...
Great Image, you are a master of PS.
I agree with Kristalynn1807 that Dolphins, whales and other sea life creatures are bettr off in the wild. In fact I hate zoo’s with a passion, as they are only concerned with money
billyboy
CJ (and Kristal!), I was waiting a year for someone to voice this concern. I SO wish I could have used a shark snapping after a low flying seagull miles off the coast, but as I only use my own pictures and am not very good in shark infested waters, I had to settle for the dolphin show thing.
So to prove my sincerity, from now on, any proceeds from sales of this picture will go straight to the WWF. So a large framed print would do nicely thank you very much…
Anthony Jalandoni

stunning art Billy ~ the light, comp, color ~ spot on!!
billyboy replied
Cheers Linda, it gives me a buzz every time someone says they like this. It`s my very first digital collage, and also the first one I ever got published. It was a double page spread in a big circulation French mag svereal years ago, and a very big moment for your humble BB. Thanks so much for digging this!
linaji
I found your dolphin tonight.. looking for a bite and here it is.. all slipppery and crazy like.. what an imagination you have darling man. Oh.. I just read the top to Linda.. wow.. that is so cool.. how many times since then have you been published?
xox
billyboy replied
Funny, I was thinking dolphins last night and hoped you’d see this. Like I told Linda, this is so special to me being my first.
I’ve been published enough times, but only as reader showcase spots in mags,, and a couple of tutorials. The double spread in Chasseur d’Image was cool as it was simlply a WOW injection over two pages. It’s always wicked to see your own stuff in print, but I think the Modern Drummer ad had to be the coolest for me.
Thanks SO much for passing by and for the fav!!

Am I the only one to notice the lightning? How the freakin’ hell did you manage that at the same time? :)
billyboy replied
Yes you are.
It`s actually just a line traced in Photoshop with a bit of coloring in the cloud.
It always gives me a buzz when someone comments on this pic as it was really my first digital comp.
So thanks for the buzz!!

Okay Billy, nice comp, I go to the dalt water all the time and see dolphins, but in the many times I have been to the beach I have only seen them jump once and missed the shot . I have photoshop but am not so good at layers. Awesome work here
billyboy replied
Thanks especially for commenting on the comp as the placement of the dolphin to create the triangular shape anchored by the two fishermen is what gives the shot strength in my opinion. I was lucky that the guy on the left appears to be looking right at it… that was a bonus, as was the dynamic sky.
Cheers too for the compliments!
