Gourd Ranch is an experimental free-hand digital painting with PhotoShop post work.

These gourds are best dried in full sun leaving seeds in situ. Once cured, lightly sand with medium grit emery cloth, producing just enough tooth to hold lamp black, burnt sienna and raw ochre inscriptions. Seal with pure Tung oil, then rub thoroughly with 0000 steel wool before smudging with sage . Next, gather four 2.25 – 2.75 cm carved red spiny oyster or reticulated turquoise medicine bear amulets, which are wrapped with each gourd in soft deer hide. Finally, bind the wrappings with 14 gauge undyed sisal cord, and seal the ends with tungsten spot welds. No feathered objects or avian fetish items should be allowed to touch or cast shadows on the bundle before interment by full moon. On subsequent new moons, feed the mound with a 350 ml infusion of dried saguaro fruit in ewe’s milk. [n.b.: In southeast Mediterranean regions, tanna leaf tea may be substituted.] It’s that simple.

Fine prints are available, suitable for any consecrated hogan or sweat lodge, if first properly laminated. For matted and framed prints, boudoir placements are guaranteed to bring comfort and hope, while mitigating intrusive dreams.
