Dead Wishes

Our time has come and gone.
It vanished before dawn.
You took to the road,
left us on the shelf.
Now, you’re living all alone,
with someone else.

And, you’re sorry now,
gotta get back some how.
But you’re too far away;
I’m many miles behind.
When he begs you to stay,
it cracks your mind.

I sleep in the sunlight.
Walk around past midnight,
where I meet new loved ones.
We greet with a kiss.
I’ve always been forgiven,
for times like this.

And, I’m sorry too.
What else could we do?
We buried tomorrow,
many miles behind.
The dead wishes we’d borrowed,
have cracked my mind.
