The spectacular Minyon Falls within the World Heritage Listed Nightcap National Park of NSW sits high upon a volcanic plateau surrounded by lush sub-tropical rainforest. Making my way down the steep mountain along Upper Coopers Creek Road I saw this unique gate that was worthy in my opinion of a hdr attempt, given the strong light and shadows that would fool any camera sensor. The setting with rolling hills, greenery, cattle grazing and magnificent fresh air all complimented each other for this late afternoon image.
BEST TO VIEW THIS LARGER
Pentax K20 D – Sigma 17-70 lens.
HDR Image – Natural Finish.
10 shots, 2 × 5 bracketed exposures, processed through Photoshop and Photomatix, images stitched and completed in Elements.
Who needs to go in. It looks perfect from right there!
That’s right Bruce but I suspect the fishing hole at the base of those rolling hills is the reason for this gate. Thanks for your comments mate. Cheers.
Love the play of shadow and light. Sure makes me want to try HD.
Thanks Nancy, well I resisted HDR for some time, but eventually gave it a try. I prefer the natural look which gives an even exposure all over. Still experimenting with different HDR techniques but well worth your time getting into it. Thanks again for your visit Nancy. Cheers.
Mike, I’m getting closer and closer to trying HD. The only thing that stops me is that I don’t like using tripods to get multiple exposures. But it appears that that ’s the way to go. Thanks for your input.
i love this kinda reminds me of the countryside in the south! Great shot! Hugs, Mimi x
Thanks Mimi, after 10 years of drought in my part of the world it was a beautiful change to be amongst such greenery, running streams and fresh valleys. Of course the drought eventually broke in Victoria last year, bringing massive floods, but new life abundant everywhere – a welcome change! Thanks again for your visit and great comments. Cheers.
