Light-painting with a blue El wire, no photoshop, cropped only, otherwise as-is.

Canon 7D, f/11, ISO-100, 63 secs, 50mm

Black room, forks lined up, tripod, bulb mode
1) Open shutter
2) Shine small flashlight from above the camera towards forks for 4 secs
3) Shine small flashlight along the bend in the left forks 1 sec
4) Shine small flashlight along the bend in the right forks 1 sec
5) Dance blue wire light above left forks15 secs
6) Dance blue wire light above right forks 15 secs
7) Close shutter

I am self taught, with an imagination that will not stop. I started drawing as a kid, and dabbled with correspondence art school but never took art in high school or college because I felt it might constrain me. I was wrong, but no crying over spilled milk.

  • Just do it! Easy peasy…all trial and error to get what you want. Instead of El wire, you can use a flashlight and twine. Hold the flashlight pointing down and shake the twine for the smoke effect. Thanks Wendi!
