After helping to scoff a Chocolate Orange the other night (a family favourite treat) I decided to make a cake in the same vein. And here it is with cream on my dining room table. Tangy orange cake with a slightly bitter and slightly sweet chocolate butter cream filling and covering, along with a very thin layer of orange marmalade on the bottom cake layer. Oh its no good, I can’t stay here and write about it I’ll just have to go and eat another slice. (recipe available upon request!)

Inspired by my dad in visual arts and music from a very early age. He mentored me in photography, film processing and printing when I was 7 or 8 years old. He wouldn’t teach me to play guitar though so I had to teach myself, and played bass in a group while I was at University for pocket money. I took early retirement in 2009 and rekindled my passion for photography. My art is eclectic. I’ll photograph anything and everything. The world is full of images just waiting to be captured.

As you might expect there’s not too much of it left now and the white table cloth has been stained with chocolate butter and cream in the rush.

OMG!! Put the kettle on we’ll all be around in ten minutes!! Great cake and photo of it!!
Can you make it 15 minutes, my kettle is quite slow to boil and don’t forget, it will take you 5 minutes to get your rocket ship out of the hangar before you start your journey!
Thanks so much April.

Bummer. I don’t have a rocket ship and it’ll take me an hour to get to the airport…..tell you what…..SAVE me a piece…. ;)
I’ll be making another soon, I’ll ensure it’s held cool and dry ‘till you get here! Don’t rush, then I’ll have time to make and eat some more in the meantime! Of course, you could paint one of your own! :O)
