An OOB of a Bacon and Egg Pie (cooked by yours truly) and a photograph on our mantle. A mouth watering if not interesting take on cookery photography.

Inspired by my dad in visual arts and music from a very early age. He mentored me in photography, film processing and printing when I was 7 or 8 years old. He wouldn’t teach me to play guitar though so I had to teach myself, and played bass in a group while I was at University for pocket money. I took early retirement in 2009 and rekindled my passion for photography. My art is eclectic. I’ll photograph anything and everything. The world is full of images just waiting to be captured.

    Cool photo; very surrealistic.

  • Thanks Chris, can I interest you in a slice?

Now here is a coincidence. After you sent me that photo yesterday, I was thinking how it would be a great idea if you used it for Redbubble and lo and behold – here it is. Two great minds think alike :) I love what you have done with the frame; I would never have thought of that twist. I spotted this in the overhead display feed minutes ago. It jumped out at me … and that is a really good thing. Everyone likes food and everyone likes good photos, so you have a winner here. There’s even some money for those who prefer money to food :)

  • But do you dream in PIE? My sister-in-law does, so much so she’s coming for dinner tonight. Not much of an accolade? Well she lives in East London, all that way for a Shin Pie. I’ll not be having any pastry myself due to the fat content and the calories (Yeah right!).

i have seen many OOF shots, but nothing like this… your imagination is fantastic!!! you have got me to thinking of something i might do along these lines… but of course, will be totally different from yours, and will not be near as good!!! This is really cool… love the stack of money to the right!!! if you have any extra, please let me know!!! hahaha…. Will be interesting to see how many features this one gets!! ~Barb

  • Thanks for your very kind word Barbara. The money was to pay for the drink I owe to Dave, er BlythArt. He hee.

I’m sure you will make a great job of realising your thoughts for your project, and I’m more than happy to be a small inspiration. I can’t wait to see it.

A superb out-of-the-box; congratulations on being featured :O)

  • Thanks again for your comments Les.

All I can say about this one is I baked the pie too, and if it wasn’t for my son being late for his tea I wouldn’t have got the shot of the pie! Luck plays its part too!

You’ll have to tell me though, my curiosity cannot be contained any longer. Where did you get “hootonies” from?

I can easily satisfy your curiosity.
I was christened Les and born and brought up in a little place in the Cheshire countryside named Hooton, hence Hooton Les i.e. Les from Hooton :O)

  • LOL. Thanks Les. I was at a loss about pronouncing hootonles as a single word, and I couldn’t think how to split it up to pronounce it either. How I missed “Les” being on the end, I must have had a senior moment. Ha ha. Thanks Les, and all the best to you my friend.
