I’m married with a son, Richard. We live in Wallsend in the North of England. Sometimes called “The Frozen North”.
I started photography early with my Dad as my mentor. He experimented a lot, and so do I as a consequence, and I was introduced to developing and printing at the age of 7 or 8. I have dabbled with photography throughout my life but my career took up most of my time and limited my experience. I have also been involved in playing and recording music, also inspired by my Dad. While at University in the 70’s I was a member of a band, and we made beer money by playing in the local clubs.
At the turn of the century I discovered digital photography and that opened up a whole new world of possibilities. There is no cost per frame with digital and results can be viewed instantly. This gives the opportunity to review and learn on the spot.
I can say I have learned such a lot about the art of photography since leaving work in 2009. Now I have the technology and the time, but money is tight. However, there’s a lot more to life than money (even though you wouldn’t think it when looking at the news these days)!
My art is eclectic. I will take anything and everything. I’d like to do more portraits and studio work, but unless my 6 numbers come up, that is just a wish. However, the world is full of images just waiting for me to capture!

My son Richard as a toddler
Ah! My son when he was an innocent babe, investigating the air brick of our first house. How he’s changed in the last decades. Picture taken on FP4 and processed and printed at home, rescued from an old storage box and scanned in to preserve the memories.
