Although bidkev strives to capture the moment, the limitations of time, weather, and convenience, may not afford him the luxury of always painting with light via the lens, so he will therefore, often capture the mundane, in the hope of later transforming it into something more pleasing to the eye via modern darkroom techniques.
It is said, “the camera never lies” but a camera, be it film or digital, is limited in it’s representation of light, shade and colour, as we see it. Bidkev attempts, via post processing techniques, to overcome the limitations of the camera. He attempts to portray what he sees, in a manner that not only has a wider range of dynamic tones, but that also indicates his emotions/feelings at the time that the image is presented to him.
Due in part to the above, some of the images displayed, may not resemble a “traditional” photograph. This is due to a deliberate processing technique which is in no way an attempt to make a photograph look like a painting, although the finished product may well appear to be so. The process is used merely to facilitate a more appropriate finished product (ie what the photographer envisaged or felt), as opposed to the image merely representing that which was seen through the lens.
Thank you for taking the time to pay him a visit and please call back, as new work is being added regularly.

Images of the Greater Brisbane area, some local, some not so. The Greater Brisbane Region, although not officially defined, is usually regarded as the Brisbane Statistical Division and a further 60 – 100kms. It spreads W to the Great Dividing Range; N to around Nambour; and S towards the McPherson Range which forms the border between NSW and Qld. For illustration purposes, some areas outside this region are included because they are heavily visited by visitors to, and residents of, Brisbane
