I’m going through my ‘Backyard Insects’ book now…I think it is a wasp like you guys said. Netelia sp., an Ichneumonid wasp that is a caterpillar parasite. It can also sting people! I better make sure I let it out tomorrow then….
Thank Joseph. Still haven’t bought the pasta though!

Eeerrr, Frank – it looks like something that would have a BIG sting….. You put it in a light box for this shot? (Which is a pretty superb macro by the way…. but then ALL yours are lol ;)))
Thanks K. No it wasn’t a light box, just some A4 photocopy paper as background and reflectors. I need to practice…spring is here! :) Saw a dragonfly outside this morning…this area looks promising.
Looks like an overgrown mozzie (mosquito). Could be a paper wasp… not as nasty as the big orange ones (and much friendlier than the European wasps). Its a fantastic photo, btw!
