excellent work, Barbara!!!!! Hey, guess what??? I gave up karaoke! I am now practicing with a band:) I may be ‘old’ but I’m not finished, yet…
I love your portraits!! When I can finally scan again I’m going to send you that photo:)
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thank you, Catherine :-)))
Nooo! LOL! No more bad singing you need to listen to? I’d better record myself singing in the shower and send you a copy so you don’t go cold turkey! hahahaha
Yes, as soon as you’re ready, send me the pic.
MoonSpiral
Great pencil work. Good to see you cranking out some work again….can you send some of that creativity this way :).
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thanks Tammy :-))) ... we’re taking turns, aren’t we. It’s good to do some new stuff, I’m enjoying the graphite (I have 2 half-finished coloured pen versions of the same image lying here but both times the pens ran out, argghhh!) xxx
Catherine Howell
PLEEEAAASEEE, send me a copy:)

Barbara, not all of my singers were bad… just the ones who banged the mic on something and said to me “IS IT ON???” :))))))))))
Barbara Glatzeder replied
hahahaha, you’ve never heard my personal version of Hotel California ... which is a good thing! xx
Lynsye Medalia
Very cute! I’m amazed at how much detail comes through with such a ‘rough sketch’ style! I tihnk I should try something similar some day :)
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thanks so much, Lynsye :-)) I’m getting used to it slowly but surely – it’s a great adjustment because they’re too quick to feel “finished”, if you know what I mean xx
Mark Tull
I agree with Lynsye’s comment, great detailing, excellent use of negative space, and a great warmth from her smile, super detail ;o)
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thanks so much, Mark :-)) yes, it’s the warmth I’m trying to bring across. She’s great to work with and we’re developing into a good team x
LTScribble
the sketch is marvelous…love how you can capture so much with so few lines…...I also need to perfect this…......It would save me so much time…... :0)
I once made up a story about a fairy named Twinkle….....She was a night time fairy who made the stars shine for the kids so the night time wouldn’t be so scary….I told this story to my niece to help her get back to sleep after a nightmare when she was 4 or 5 and she made me make up a bit more for future stories to get her to go to sleep….lol….....A pic of a name and a smile and it all comes flooding back :0)
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Happy to bring back happy memories for you :-))) I named it after Twinkle twinkle little star ... it’s one of my favourite bedtime lullabyes, I sing it to my kids frequently. Your story sounds quite magical! Oh and do try it, it’s an adjustment because of the speed – feels incomplete at first – and I’m not quite brave enough for less (but bolder) linework … but I’m working toward it x
Lynette K.
I love it! The shadow, the lines and thos eyes. Amazing. I do like the composition and how “close up” it is.
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thanks so much, Lynette :-))) The reference for this was a full figure photograph and I was unsure of how much to use … I kept cropping and cropping, lol … until I ended up with this. But then you know I have this thing for tightly cropped portraits, hahaha xxx
Lynette K.
They work well for you…gives your pieces a bit more depth and feeling.

I’m always amazed how you’re able to create such perfect portrait with so little or such sketchy detail! But you do, & it works…love it!!!
Xxx
Barbara Glatzeder replied
Thanks so much, Sarah :-))) Lol, I am as amazed … never thought I’d warm up to this rough style xxx
