Artist's Description

Behind the misty red berries sits a statue of a hooded kneeling female, eyes closed in retrospection. One hand rests on a slab holding a wreath, while the other hand clasps a helmet. The fold of the robe flows down the piers, incorporated into the structure of the bridge.

This statue is one of four “Memory” sculptures, designed in 1930 to commemorate the veterans of World War I, and situated over the Fox River in Aurora, Illinois.
