The Song of the Seas
I love to sit and watch the sea … I love to sit and listen to the sea. It fascinates me, it inspires me as it’s endless motion moves onwards forever. This is happening here, it happening there and its happening everywhere. Endless!
The Song of the Seas belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Something To Say, The Word Tree and WavesHear it crashing
... the roll then the thunder
as it rotates and drops to the sand there under.
Its endless motion -
In coming … on going,
Always gyrating and moving
Over and over … and over again.
It rolls and crashes with its foam and its spray
Ever onwards all night and all through the day!
I sit with my eyes closed
... and I feel the salt in my nose,
All sensations are there,
the wind in my hair …
I listen … and to me it declares
Its being!
The pounding, the thumping
... the constant bumping
As the waves roll on.
I sit and I listen as the sounds form a song
That never will cease
… it’s the song of the seas!

I love the sea too Bev, my great grandfather was a French sea captain and I think it runs in my veins. I am basically a land lubber two feet on the earth while enjoying the water.
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Gloria – I was at the beach most of the day today (again) and then home downloading what I thought was the better of my shots and it inspired me to jot down this little verse – I’m pleased you liked it enough to comment.
Nanmarie
Just wonderful. I too am in love with the sea.
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Nancy – it was just so peaceful sitting there today listening to these waves and the birds, nice clean air and wonderful scenery.

Thanks Sonia – wrote it in a whimsical moment!

Bev, I love this as i love the sea! Living inland now, I miss the sight, sound and smell of the sea so much, and your little poem feeds my soul! Thank you.
Bev Woodman replied
Thank you Jan for this wonderful feedback and thank you for favouriting this little poem written in a sentimental moment!
Jen Wahl
Bev… beautifully written. What I love about your work is that I can envision exactly what you are writing about…
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Jen for this compliment and for favouriting this one. When I write I usually like to lose myself in the image of the moment to get the true feel of the scene – it doesn’t always work but if I’m passionate enough about the story then I find its effective.
lianne
Beautiful poetry – marvelous imagery and lovely flow to this piece. The sea offers endless moods to express and you’ve captured so many of them here.
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Lianne for your wonderful comments and I’m so pleased you liked this one. Its so easy to write about the things you love.

Thanks again Nat!! I’d like to think I have some mariners blood in me – I certainly had one branch that were and all my other direct ancestors all arrived in this country via sailing ships during the 1700s & 1800s.
