This giant dead gum tree towers over these ancient tree ferns on one of the many huge garden properties located on The Avenue in Mt Wilson NSW Australia, dwarfing them as if they were just tiny when in fact the tree ferns would have towered way above me. The thick foggy conditions added to the eerie atmosphere creating an interesting scene. These native tree ferns and gums have been native to this mountain area since time began living side by side despite major clearing and cultivated gardens surrounding them.
Mt Wilson is easily located by car off the Bells Line of Road in the Blue Mountains area of NSW Australia. The gardens in the area are well worth visiting especially in autumn and spring. More information can be found at the community website at www.mtwilson.com.au
