Another one of the many abandoned country railway stations, this one in Kandos NSW Australia. Kandos is a tidy and still thriving town situated not too far from Lithgow and accessible from the Mudgee Road. The town was built to serve the workers at the Kandos Cement Works that still is in operation today but on a much reduced scale to years gone by. Kandos is also a great stepping off point for the Capertee Valley, Dunn’s Swamp and Newnes Valley. We found the local motel/hotel there an ideal spot to make our base camp. Also from this point you can explore Portland, Sunny Corner, Mudgee and further on to Hill End and Sofala.
