After all the red dust of outback NSW we decided to stop off in the Blue Mountains on our way home to Newcastle. Unlike the dry outback we were welcomed by wet weather so with the idea in my head that Leura would be an ideal spot to capture the even light I headed off with plastic bags in pocket just in case they were needed to cover the camera. I was lucky and managed to do the walk down the grotto at Leura Cascades and back before the clouds decided to dump their load. I believe the heavy rain the next night actually changed this scene completely but I was happy with the gentle, silky flow of this spot on the falls.
Leura Cascades can be found at Leura, just near Katoomba in the Blue Mountains of NSW Australia … an easy day drive from Sydney.
Taken with the Nikon D700, Nikon 28-300 mm lens @100 mm focal length, F5.6, 1/6 second and hand held. Unfortunately I can’t retrieve my ISO reading but it may have been around 100 although I did play with quite high ISO settings as I got further down in to lower light.
