Hill End in mid western NSW Australia is an old gold mining town that was once a thriving township. Today the Kangaroos would out number man in town as they and the town come under the protection of the National Parks and Wildlife Service. We found a huge mob grazing late one afternoon and I felt excited to be able to capture what appeared to be Mum & Joey with Dad in the background. Maybe Dad was saying “I told you ma not to talk to strangers”.
Taken with the Nikon D90, Tamron 18-270 mm lens, hand held.
there are some big kangaroos in hill end , good cature Bev
Thanks Phil … especially for the favourite. We noticed that numbers were really up all through the district. Maybe the extra rain this year provided heaps more food … and I believe this leads to more joeys too♥
that’s great! you’re lucky to have those animals there
Thank you for stopping by and commenting … we noticed the numbers had increased since our last visit and especially that all females had joeys … its so wonderful to see them in the wild♥
You have captured these very well Bev. Very nice Australiana shot. Well done!!!
Thanks Anna … especially for the favourite. These ones were at Hill End and weren’t as friendly as those we saw at Morisset the other day … they kept us at a comfortable distance. They are so beautiful♥
Wonderful catch Bev!! I do believe the feed situation affects the population … lovely to see them thriving.
Thanks Rosalie for the comment. The female kangaroo is quite unique in that she won’t allow the embryo to develop if she feels the environment is not healthy so I think the rain in this area has meant many joeys this year♥
Great shot Bev. I love the joey. I saw a roo at Hill End when I was there a couple of years ago. I remember it because I had my lens roll off the bonnet of the car while I was rushing to change the lens ! It survived the fall.
The things we do … LOL! (shouldn’t laugh but I had the image in my mind). Thanks heaps Michael for the comment … they were everywhere this visit … we really had to watch out on the road, even in daylight♥
Hey Joey, look at the camera you dope!. LOL A nice capture Bev.
Hi Al and thank you … I did get a couple with the joey looking towards the camera but there were other distractions … I might play around with zooming in and featuring Joey by him/herself♥
