Blue Mountains NSW - Perry's Lookdownby Bev Woodman
Our Saturday started off with heavy fog. Having spent many of my young years in the Blue Mountains National Park area of NSW Australia, I realised that this was not unusual … but today it was more like pea soup. Despite this and keen to photograph everything we could find, we set off for Perry’s Lookdown near Anvil Rock and Pulpit Rock. The fog didn’t help our careful negotiation of the rough unsealed road but our determination pushed us on until we reached the carpark area. A short walk and we were at the lookout where the view should be but this is all there was. Despite the disappointment that we couldn’t see the magnificent view I was happy with my fog shots as I thought they highlighted the many scenes of what a Blue Mountain visitor should expect during a visit to this area. By lunch time the fog had lifted and the day was picture perfect♥
This is my fav of the 2 Bev – love the texure and colour in the rocks, against the soft mist.
Thanks Rosalie … I must admit I like this one but then there is something so beautiful about the sandstone cliffs of the Blue Mountains combined with gum trees … and on this occasion, the fog♥

I’m with Rosalie on this one – just love the color in that cliff face – and the composition here is really a spectacular one! Super job Bev.
Thanks Lianne … for the comment and the favourite. I was lucky to have just enough light to show these colours. Further up the road I couldn’t see two feet in front of me … I love to share this beautiful scenery with everyone especially my friends overseas♥
This is a fantastic image Bev and really highlights the essence of the mountains….. the cliffs and the trees…. I used to feel sorry for tourists from overseas who arrived for one day only and found this…. but although they didn’t see the grand vista I think the fog makes you take in more of your immediate surroundings…. the things you can touch and smell…. which is just wonderful!! If you know what I mean….. : ))
Thanks Jenny and I do know what you mean … I feel very at home in the Blue Mountains having spent many years as a child at my grandparents property on Kurrajong Heights. I love the fog, the cool crisp air, the smells of the trees and the wood fires along with the magnificent sound of the birds … never get sick of it and I know that usually after a fog there is a beautiful day. We passed a bus load of tourists on this very narrow road and I thought the same … shame they won’t get to see the view unless they have all day to spare … but I doubt it♥

Like this one. The rock make the image and gives it perspective.
Thanks Bill … I clicked off a few, peering into the fog and was pleased with what came out of it. The rocks are a definite bonus♥

Beautiful, great earthy colours and the mist adds a sense of mystery
