Fennel Bay Bridge - Lake Macquarie NSW by

Last night was too hot to stay home so … you guessed it, we decided to crawl under another bridge. This time we chose the Fennel Bay Bridge on the road to Toronto in NSW Australia. I remember as a child travelling this road and all the bridges were old timber, single laned bridges that required you to stop and give way before proceeding … naturally there were long delays in crossing this bridge plus the Boolaroo/Teralba Bridge. Today the road bypasses the latter one and the road now has a different course that requires three concrete bridges … and naturally the traffic now flies along this road with little thought to yester year. I found the late afternoon sun provided wonderful natural light to the pylons on this end of the bridge and despite my distaste for graffiti, I thought it added an interesting backdrop to this image. I found this bridge fascinating and will be back to try some other shots in different light real soon.

WONDERFUL CAPTURE OF BRILLIANT EARLY EVENING LIGHT!!!
I love it all Bev, the colour, contrast, warmth of usually cold concrete, the reflections in the water and, yes, the graffiti adds another dimension and interest, as well as colour! And bathed in the soft afterglow it is transformed and softened into something quite beautiful…everything blends together into a mural.

Your POV is so good in this, I can’t wait to see your future shots!!…xxxx

    :D : ))))))

  • Thanks Jan for all the enthusiasm that you put into this comment … I love it. We ventured out the other night to cool down and this place was not even on our list of stops so I’m glad we did take a peak. I want to go back in even light too for some of the early morning reflections here … thanks heaps

Great clolouring and composition Bev. You are right the grafitti adds colour but it would have been just as spectacular without it. Well done!!

  • Thanks Anna … this spot would be good first time in the morning, on the other side of the bridge. I took a few there too but the sun washed out the far end but the reflections were brilliant … I’ll be going back

You know what they say about people who lurk under bridges…..
I can see your bridge pursuits are well spent.

  • Thanks Andrew … I only lurk under them in daylight … I’m not sure what goes on there after dark though … scary. I’m enjoying my little jaunts though so thanks again♥

Great repeating pattern & graffiti Bev!

  • Thanks Mandy …. it was the patterns and the golden light that prompted me to take this one … the graffiti just happened to be there but added something to the image♥

Thats a very interesting viewpoint, Bev, well caught :)

  • Thanks Sue for the comment … the sun I think help create this image. The setting sun was on the opposite side of the bridge and helped create these strong lines and glow♥

Superb lighting, a good use of perspective and the graffiti makes a good focal point. Lovely Bev :) I often make like a troll and sit under bridges to mate.

  • Thanks Julie … do I take you literally … is this where you sit to mate or did you mean that you sit under bridges too mate!! Oh how the English language can be turned around … whichever you meant you made my night♥
