The Sun Princess arriving into Newcastle Harbour on Sunday 18th October 2009 with the sand dunes at Nobbys’ Beach in the foreground. Its sheer size is felt in this image as it slowly makes its way down harbour to its berth. Newcastle, once an industrial harbour is now welcoming cruise ships on a regular timetable. Tourist coaches were lined up at Queen’s Wharf to show tourists the local sites that included the many beaches, Lake Macquarie, Pokolbin Vineyards, Port Stephens, Morpeth and major shopping centres. The Darby Street Fair was a huge attraction to many who didn’t want to venture far.
