Vineyards - Pokolbin NSW Australia by

The spring weather here in Australia heralds the start of the growing season and the blossoms and new buds were certainly on display during our recent drive through the Pokolbin Vineyards just out of Cessnock in NSW Australia. It was a quiet lazy day and we spent it meandering along country lanes, stopping at coffee spots and browsing through second hand book and antique shops. Highly recommended R&R therapy for the mind and soul.

This image was taken with a Nikon D90, 18-270 lens and hand held.

I like the angle you chose and the patterns of the vineyard stakes. Soon they’ll be covered with vines. Sounds like a great day.

  • Thanks Jan for the comment – I was experimenting with the lines of vines and its best to do it now without the foliage too thick. It is always a good day in the vines!♥

again Bev your perspective is just wonderful – and there’s such a sense of optimism in this as well. Fascinating shot!

  • Thank you Lianne, the smell of spring was in the air and to see the vines all starting to shoot certainly was inspiring!♥

The vineyards in California are very nice. there are wine tasting tours that my sister really loves. This place sounds so charming. I love small coffee shops and boutiques. A great picture of the vineyard. xo

  • Hi Lori and thank you for stopping by. Its always a good day out in the vineyards and you can partake in wine tasting or visit a great restaurant or coffee shop. There’s little shops along the way, wedding chapels, carriage rides, picnic area … you name it … its all there … something for everyone!♥

Excellent photo indeed Bev and I particularly like the thought that you put into this. You have got an unusual angle which makes a world of difference from the usual vineyard scene and it makes me wish I had a bit more imagination when it comes to shots of this nature. We’ll be down in the Margaret River area in a few weeks time and there are scores of vineyards there to practice on. Best wishes, Peter

  • Thanks Peter for the comment. I needed some photos for a project I’m putting and when I saw how bare the vines were I commented to hubby that I needed to do something out of the ordinary to make the image interesting – I was crawling all over the place to try and get the shots I got but it was fun and I learnt a lot from the experience. Have fun in Margaret River … its on my list!♥

  • Thanks Deb – I think you can visualise what I was up to – at one stage I stood on an ant’s nest and started doing the Watusi!
