This young boogie boarder (now identified as Jake Jones) stands wistfully staring out to sea, measuring the small waves and rips at Nobby’s Beach in Newcastle NSW, and wondering at what spot and time he may decide to enter the water. A balmy, end of winter August day was oh so inviting for a few who decided to brave the still cool water on this iconic beach. Not too many years before his path would have been blocked by the giant Pasha Bulka Coal Ship that decided to come ashore during a fierce storm in June 2007.
