Down beneath the dank and dark
world that abounds,
I’m sure you’ll find a fairy or two
as they skip through the bark,
with their lilting voice and happy, laughing sounds.
… Tis the trickle you hear as the water tumbles.
… Tis their laughter you hear as it splashes and thunders
to the bottom of the falls.
Close your eyes and sit for awhile
You’ll see them if you believe … and your mind they’ll beguil
As they entwine their spangled web around you there
without ne’er a word heard or said!
So hush!! Listen!! Can you hear them!
Stop!! Look!! as they dance their mayhem.
Now rested I can go on
With a smile upon my face
for it was the fairies who enticed me
here to stay and enjoy this wonderous place
… the Fairy’s Enchanted Kingdom!

This image inspired the above poem as the areas in and around Leura Cascades to me are like a fairy’s kingdom. Close your eyes while you are there, stop and enjoy the sounds around you and you too will be convinced …
