Rusted Retirement by Bev Woodman

I have passed this old rusty and dilapidated truck many times on my trips out to Wollombi and this time I promised myself to stop. Its difficult to get a clear photo of the truck owing to the long grass and electric fence but somehow I thought this image might portray its rusted beauty.

Yep, seen better times, but still a lot of character

  • Sounds like me Steve – thanks for the comment. I just needed to stop this time although it was a bit hairy as it was on a slight bend and the traffic was a problem.

Yep, you just have to love these old beasts. Nice shot. Like old work horses, they die in the traces, but just never fall over…moldering carcasses, still dreaming of working.

  • Thanks Lynda for the comment. You are right about these old work horses – they were simple but strong.

Reminds me of the "water’ truck that used to bring water for the house tank before we got the dam built!!! Used to cost a fortune!!LOL..Great old truck Bev!!*-)

  • Thanks Deb – this is probably what this was used for in its hay day. The owner obviously prizes it still as he had the electric fence around it.

Just love those old trucks .. anything old & rusted. I notice that the tyres are still inflated after all that time ! Nice shots Bev.

  • Ten points for picking that one Michael – I didn’t – but your right they are still inflated although I doubt it could be driven but … who knows? Thanks for the comment, it always appreciated.
