This is one of the many beautiful old settlers cottages in this area around St Albans known as the Forgotten Valley. Many of these homes are still occupied, some permanently but many as weekenders or holiday homes. They offer an insight back in time as to how our ancestors lived and often raised large families in these small homes. Life was simple back then and many people still live a simple life in this area far away from the hustle and bustle of the mayhem of city of Sydney just an hour’s drive away. I often find myself wanting to quote from A.B. Patterson’s “Clancy of the Overflow” when I visit St Albans “And the bush has friends to meet him, and their kindly voices greet him In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars, And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended, And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars”.
I could live here as long as I could get internet!
Thanks Jade. The mobile phone reception is not too good down there but maybe a satelite dish might provide the internet. Many of the B&Bs all have websites so it must be available. You would just love it!
nicely done i like the way you have done this one.
Hi Donovan – thanks for the comment and so pleased you liked this one. I guess you’re missing your beautiful gullies down your way. At least you have preserved them in your beautiful gallery. Given time it will all come back and it may be fun watching it all evolve.

Very nice Bev. I love the way you have focussed on the beautiful green leaves & made the building a blur. Great idea.
Thanks Michael for the great comment. I thought the cottage might look a bit more mysterious this way. I’m pleased with how it came out.
