Fred Ash Building circa 1855 - Newcastle NSWby Bev Woodman

While trying to find a parking spot in Newcastle recently, I ventured down a closed off street and came across the rear of the old Fred Ash Building. This building is heritage listed but most of it is sitting vacant, so like many of Newcastle great buidings of the past. I instantly grabbed the trusty camera to preserve this image for the future.
Thanks Paul for the comment. I remember locking my keys in the car just near here in 1989 just after the earthquake and the area looked like a scene from a war movie. I wished I had been interested in photography then.

Oh the colors and textures here are just so inviting Bev – aside from the fact that it’s a wonderfully historic capture! Fabulous piece of your history!
Thanks Lianne and welcome back. What part of Texas did you go to. Back in 1986 I stayed with relatives in Bedford, just between Dallas and Fort Worth – we had a great time – thanks for the comments.
Thanks Jan for the comment and this was so welcome. I had to shoot this at this angle because I had my big lens on and couldn’t get far enough back so had to shoot it sideways. I was pleased with the outcome. I was going to add some more history before entering it into other groups.
YOu are more than welcome Bev…let me know what groups you enter it into with the more detailed history…gee, anyone would think you were a bit of a history buff. ;)..as I’d really love to read all about this wonderful old building.

I was in Lubbock Bev – up in the panhandle almost but spent some time in San Angelo and Amarillo too. Just ran the whole week! Oh – and I flew in and out of Dallas as well so spent a bit of time there too on my way back!
Thanks for that info Lianne – we actually drove from Flagstaff to Dallas overnight and unfortunately missed a lot of areas as it was dark but loved our stay there, got to go up to Lake Texoma and did a bit of sailing there.

Absolutely stunning shot of a gem of the past Bev!!! Great find.
It always pays to have your camera close at hand, doesn’t it?
I adore the angle you’ve shot it from, real sense of perspective, the texture and detail, colours and light!
Simply brilliant!!!

would sit beautifully in some other RB groups, such as Out of the past
