Rusty Chain Fence - Canoe Pool, Newcastle Beach NSW by

A close up of the old chain fence that surrounds the canoe pool on Newcastle Beach. This fence was obviously made well as it has withstood the hands of time and mother natures constant pounding for many years. Most budding artists in the Newcastle area attempt to photograph this fence at some time and it’s always interesting to see the different techniques used. This is one of many shots taken recently.

Very nice Bev, I like the pattern and the way it draws the eye across the image.

  • Thanks Helen for the comment – this fence is a challenge to local photographers – there are many angles to play with and everyone does it differently

another great capture bev those old chains would taken a lot of beatings from the ocean over the years

  • Thanks Cazz – I’m amazed that they’re still there, some are a little the worse for wear but the majority are still intact.

Great perspecitve, Bev! I love the natural contrast you ‘see’ and capture.

  • Thanks Jen – scenes like this just draw me and I usually take quite a few shots of different angles to see what turns out best.

Colour enhancement works well on this one Bev

  • Thanks Pete – I just notched the red and yellow up slightly to enhance the rusty appearance.

Nice one Bev. How do you protect your camera from the spray?

    kev

  • Thanks for the comment – I don’t subject it to unnecessary spray so it never gets wet but I always make sure I clean the camera and tripod thoroughly when back in the car. The camera has a lense hood and filter so they help a bit too.
