This old produce barn was originally built to store produce in by the Fry family who ran the local transport company in the mid 1800s and as well were the local funeral directors. This old barn was raised high above the ground to stop vermin from destroying the produce stored there. The barn has been lovingly restored and cared for by the local community and is in the park and picnic grounds on the banks of the Paterson River on the road from Maitland to Dungog/Gresford in NSW. If you’re passing through this area, take the time to stop in this little community, walk the back roads and the river banks as there is so much to see from years gone by. The local museum is open on Sundays and is well worth a visit.
