Just a simple shot of the local cows grazing on the reserve area alongside the Paterson River at Paterson NSW Australia.

Paterson is a small country town settled amidst mountains on the Paterson River which has its source in Barrington Tops to the north. The main road and trainline twist through this village which is located 175 km north of Sydney and 18 km north of Maitland.

The green of the paddock indicates the plentiful rain that the area has enjoyed of late however the debri along the river also indicates the height the river rose to during the wet weather. The old house confirms us of the changing times of even this sleepy, historical town and how many have moved on. It also reminds us of those who settled these towns, often travelling by river or horseback to areas remote and wild.

I love the challenge of capturing what I see, admire and love. To share it with you is an added bonus. Photography to me is recording history. Please explore my galleries and enjoy♥

  • Cazz I couldn’t find any history of the old shack although on this far end there is a huge corrigated iron door – I need to go back on a Sunday when the museum is open and then I can find out more

    Great find and capture Bev

  • We had a drive to Seaham, almost to Dungog (but the sign said “dam closed” – damn) so we turned around and came home through Paterson – found some treasures along the way.

Lovely old shearing shed Bev, well spotted.

  • Thanks Raquel – Paterson luckily is proud to preserve a lot of their buildings, even the old timber ones, so I was pleased we stopped by
