This spot in the Sanctuary at Pelican (near Belmont NSW) enticed me to go further, to venture further to see what was around the next bend – I wasn’t disappointed! This area is like a mini rain forest and is bounded by a local road, the Pacific Highway, an abandoned airstrip and Lake Macquarie. The local volunteer group is restoring the area to allow a wonderful refuge for native animals and hikers/photographers. Well worth a visit!
I love the challenge of capturing what I see, admire and love. To share it with you is an added bonus. Photography to me is recording history. Please explore my galleries and enjoy♥

wow, great place. wish I was there
Its a magical place and hopefully with the restoration work, it will look even better in a year or so. I’ll have to take some progress shots.

what a gorgeous place! I love paths… makes me want to see what is coming up next. I think pictures of ‘paths’ give us the sense that there is always an adventure waiting for us. Beautiful capture.
Thanks Jen – you’re right about ‘paths’ – I can never resist them and often go way too far just to see what’s around the next corner. So pleased you liked it.

Love the texture you have enhanced with getting the sunlight to highlight it! ♥
Very very inviting! ♥
I lived in Eleebana and have seen this spot once and yes it was a gorgeous place back then [17 years ago – that long ??? WOW!!] So glad to hear it is being looked after for the future too :O)
Chookas! :O) ♥
Thank you so much for your response – knowing the area you will relate to its beauty and especially the fact that after all these years its still there. Now that its a sactuary it will be preserved if the airstrip is ever sold off for development – it can’t be touched now.
WOW!!! I love it..: )
Hard to believe that the Pacific Highway is so close!!!
An oasis of serenity and peace, beautifully captured.
Wonderful colours and love the contrast of light & shade.
Thanks Jan – I worry sometimes with too much late sun coming through the trees but I thought this effect was just about right.
