Ray of Light Reflection - Dora Creek Bridge NSW
This image was taken under the Dora Creek Road and Rail bridge. Dora Creek is found on the south western end of Lake Macquarie in NSW Australia and is a small township scattered along the banks of the creek. Dora Creek provides some beautiful mirror images early in the morning and is well worth a visit to capture these. We were a little late arriving on this occasion however this one was captured under the road/rail bridge. I loved the reflection, colours and rays of light that were finding their way through the bridge pylons. My advice is to always check under bridges as you can find some fascinating photo opportunities. This image was taken with my Nikon D80, 55-200 mm lens, hand held.

Great shot Bev. beautiful symetric and lovely colours.
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks John for the comment. We stumbled on this by chance. We have driven under the bridge on the other side often but somehow it all looked so different from this direction … but then maybe I never stopped to look before.
Steve Woodman

Thanks Steve – I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this view – I just had to have a go at it!

You’re obvioulsy proficient dog-paddling with a snorkel now Bev!! Great work and a wonderful image!
Bev Woodman replied
LOL!! Thanks Magee. I really didn’t have to resort to the snorkel bit and thank heavans for that as the water under the bridge looked a bit yuck! I must admit I was really amazed to see how great this line of pylons looked and just couldn’t resist having a go.

Anna D'Accione
Great shot and composition. I must visit this place. Well done!!
Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Anna for the comment. This view is from the southern side of the bridge so if you go across Dora Creek and take the next left, then left again another twice – it looks like a dead end but it actually goes under the bridge. Fascinating scenes there and it would be even better early in the morning when the water is really still.
Katagram
this is such a fantastic shot..something most people either take for granted or just see as ugly..you made it so beautiful ! ! congrats, this is wonderful work ! !
Bev Woodman replied
Thank you Kat for your great comment. It really was quite striking. We parked and walked towards the bridge taking photos of the stone work on the rail portion of the bridge and then wandered to the second structure for cars and I actually yelped when I saw this view – it was incredible.

If you and I had have been together for this shoot, we would have been fighting for the best spot ?
I probably would have ended up in the water….
This is a beauty Bev.
Bev Woodman replied
Wow thanks Larry – it would have been a Battle Royale for positions … I’m sure I would have thrown you a rope to pull you out! I tried a few spots – some from complete ground level and a few from the steps up to the bridge and this one was the best – I’m so pleased I wandered under this bridge.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING SHOT IN EVERY RESPECT!!!!! INSTANT FAV!!!!!
Your Nikon’s pretty good, or you are, or maybe a combination of both. For the clarity, composition, crispness of the reflections and details, colours, both in the water and above, light and shade are all outstanding.
Classic and captivating perspective!!!!!..sheer genius!!! : )))))))))))))

Bev Woodman replied
Thanks Jan for the comment and for favouriting this one. I must admit everything came together for this shot. We just happened to stray under this bridge and I just could not believe the scene that greeted me – it was all there for me to capture and my wonderful 55-200 mm Nikon lens did the rest. I do love your enthusiasm Jan … it always keeps me going!
