Leura Cascade NSW Australia

Leura Cascade NSW Australia

Located in the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park, the best access to the Leura cascades and falls is from the car park at the top of the walk. This area is green and damp with picnic tables, rock retaining walls and toilet facilities. For those not able to take the walk below, there are some beautiful falls in the parking area as well as another set below the beautiful arch bridge on the next level. For those wishing to go below, the walk is easy on the descent with wide steps cut out of the path that follows the stream further down. The walkway is bordered by ferns of many shapes and varieties. There are many photo opportunities on the way down as the water cascades gently over sloping rocky outcrops. At the bottom you will find bridge walkways and a grotto that will take your breath away. Further on the track comes to a vertical drop where the falls cascade down to the valley floor below. From here you can choose to walk back the way you came or follow the track to areas of mystery beyond. A warning though that the track after here is quite steep however its reward is the breathtakingly beautiful scenery that you need to see to believe.

Thanks Noelene – I’ve been sitting on this one and similar since our trip down there a couple of weeks ago – I wasn’t confident it was good enough but finally decided to give it a go – criticism is appreciated.

Fabulous shot Bev! My lads made me venture to the Ruined Castle – that sure was a hike! lol! Must go to Leura cascades again now that the weather is a little cooler! Thanks for sharing! x :o)

  • Bev Woodman replied

Hi Marilyn, I would have gone further if I’d been with someone. I had to leave Phil back in the car park because of his knees but when he gets his second knee done well maybe I’ll have to run to keep up. I recommend another trip there – I want to go back with my tripod next time.

Lovely description Bev, and by now I’m sure you realise there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the image! I think we are often the worst judges of our work and the most critical. Thanks for taking the leap and putting this one up.

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Enivea – I go through period of self doubt. I guess its part of the learning curve. But thanks to all you beautiful people my confidence has been restored.

NIce composition Bev, you have captured the flow of water well. This is a good spot after heavy rain.

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Terry for the comment. The light was wrong on this day and that is why I have shot it from the side … and there wasn’t a huge lot of water coming down but I’m happy with it.
